Finding God

Who is God and what does he have to do with me? We believe that the way to finding God is through his son Jesus. There is no better way to live than they way Jesus has shown us. We gave up life as we know it to follow him. We trust him to change us – our character, our lifestyle, our actions. We need Jesus.

God is…          For Us

We believe God is for us. He always has been since He created the world. God wants the best for you. Why? Because God is like a good father who loves his kids. That’s why He gave us the Bible to tell us how to have a full, meaningful life as part of our relationship with Him.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  Romans 5:8

God is…       With Us

More than just being for us, God promises to walk through life with us. He didn’t wind up the world and leave it to run its course. He is actively involved in everyday life; willing to help us, encourage us, correct us and guide us.

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.  We have seen his dwelling among us.  We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”  John 1:14

God Became…    One of Us

Best of all, God became one of us through His son Jesus. Jesus stepped down from the throne of heaven to become a human being. We believe the primary purpose for Jesus to come to earth was to rescue people from the problem of sin. This involved Jesus dying on a cross, paying the penalty we owe for our sin, so that we can receive God’s forgiveness and freedom.

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet he did not sin.  Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”  Hebrews 4:15-16

God Wants…       to be In Us

Finally, God wants to be an active part of our everyday life. How does this happen? We need to allow God to change us from the inside out, to make us into the kind of people He wants us to be. We simply have to admit that we are sinful and separated from God, place our faith in Jesus who died in our place and ask God to begin working on us. Once God is in you, rest assured He will never leave and your life will never be the same (in a good way).

“Here I am!  I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”  Revelation 3:20
